Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy provided ₹4 lakh to support surgery and further treatment for a hearing-impaired child from Panigiri village in the erstwhile Nalgonda district.
Komatireddy’s financial aid enabled the child to undergo specialised surgery at KIMS Hospital in Kondapur, Hyderabad. The minister also pledged to cover the child’s educational expenses. The child’s parents, Jampala Mahesh Kumar and Rajitha, both had hearing and speech impairments. They became distressed when their child was born with similar disabilities.
However, doctors informed the couple that timely surgery and speech therapy could help their child develop speech. The family struggled to arrange the money required for the treatment. Consequently, the parents approached Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who also held the Cinematography portfolio, seeking financial assistance.
Komatireddy’s financial aid covered surgery and further treatment
Responding to the family’s request, the minister initially provided ₹2 lakh and coordinated with medical specialists to arrange treatment. The child subsequently underwent surgery at KIMS Hospital in Kondapur. Doctors reported that the procedure was successful.
On Saturday, October 10, Komatireddy visited the hospital to enquire about the child’s condition and meet the family. During the visit, he provided another ₹2 lakh to cover further medical treatment and recovery expenses. The additional assistance brought his total financial contribution to ₹4 lakh.
Doctors said the child was expected to develop speech over the coming months with post-operative speech therapy. Meanwhile, Komatireddy assured the parents that he would continue supporting the child’s medical and educational needs.
He also pledged to bear the child’s education expenses so that financial difficulties would not affect the child’s future. The commitment extended Komatireddy’s financial aid beyond the hospital treatment to the child’s education.
