Hyderabad: Hyderabad police arrested a notorious housebreaking and bike theft offender along with a bike receiver. Police recovered five stolen motorcycles worth Rs 2.5 lakh, officials said.
On December 18, sleuths from the Commissioner’s Task Force, South West Zone, and Borabanda police caught the duo during patrols in Borabanda. According to police, the accused committed daytime housebreaking and several bike thefts across Hyderabad and Cyberabad.
Police identified the main accused as Manjul Tushar (23), a resident of Indira Nagar, Borabanda. He worked as a hotel helper. Meanwhile, officers also arrested Mohd Waheed (22), a fruit vendor from Suleman Nagar, Chitalmet.
Hyderabad police recover five bikes, trace theft cases
During the operation, the teams recovered five two-wheelers. These included Honda Activa, Activa 125, Unicorn and Suzuki Access scooters. Subsequently, police linked the vehicles to theft cases at Madhura Nagar, SR Nagar, Madhapur, Kukatpally and Alwal police stations.
During questioning, Manjul Tushar admitted involvement in six cases booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These cases were registered at Borabanda, Madhura Nagar, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Alwal and SR Nagar.
Initially, he stole gold ornaments from his own house using available keys. Later, he sold the gold in Madhya Pradesh and spent the money. Thereafter, police said, he continued stealing bikes to fund a lavish lifestyle and substance use. He parked the stolen vehicles at the receiver’s residence for disposal.
Inspector G. Santosh Kumar supervised the operation. Meanwhile, Borabanda DI G. Saidulu and SIP G. Vijayanand led the field teams. Additionally, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police MD Iqbal Siddique said patrols and intelligence-led actions would continue.
