Father and son die in Siddipet district road accident

Hyderabad: A father and his minor son were killed in a Siddipet road accident on Saturday evening. Their motorcycle collided with a lorry in Thoguta mandal while they were returning to Hyderabad after Sankranthi celebrations.

The victims were identified as Chalmeda Kumarachari, 39, a carpenter from Dharmaram village in Mirudoddi mandal, and his son Sushanth, 8. Kumarachari, who works in Hyderabad, had visited his native village with his family for the festival. Then, after the holidays, he started back to the city on his motorcycle along with his son and niece Ramyasri, 7.

The accident occurred on the outskirts of Japthilingareddypalli. The bike allegedly collided head-on with a lorry coming from the opposite direction. Due to the impact, Sushanth died on the spot, police said.

Siddipet road accident leaves village in mourning

Kumarachari suffered critical injuries and was shifted to a hospital. However, he died while being taken for treatment. Ramyasri sustained serious injuries in the crash and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, doctors said.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Dharmaram village, where relatives and locals gathered to mourn the sudden loss of the father and son. Residents said Kumarachari was the sole breadwinner of the family.

Police from Thoguta registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Officials said further action would be taken based on the findings.
