Hyderabad: The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department invited corporate organisations to fund Hyderabad lake restoration through their Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.
MA&UD made the appeal at CSR Round Table 2.0, organised with the Sports Department. The initiative sought greater corporate participation in the development and rejuvenation of lakes across the city.
MA&UD Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath addressed representatives at the programme. They invited companies to come forward and use CSR funds to develop smaller lakes in Hyderabad.
Officials highlighted the importance of lakes in maintaining the city’s ecological balance. Moreover, they underlined their role in meeting future water requirements and controlling floods.
Hyderabad lake restoration enters next phase
Ranganath presented details of the first and second phases of lake development works undertaken by HYDRAA. He explained the works through a PowerPoint presentation during the round-table meeting.
In addition, he said the government had approved the lake development programme proposed under the third phase.
Officials sought broader participation to improve Hyderabad’s lakes and preserve them for future generations. They called on corporate organisations and citizens to work alongside government agencies in the effort.
The Hyderabad lake restoration initiative particularly sought CSR support for smaller water bodies. Authorities said corporate funding could help expand lake development and rejuvenation efforts across the city.
They also linked lake conservation with Hyderabad’s long-term environmental needs. According to officials, protecting water bodies would support ecological conservation while strengthening the city’s ability to manage future challenges.
