Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said Project Udvasana 3.0 collected 3,086 kg of sacred materials through a citywide drive on July 18. A total of 349 citizens participated across 12 collection centres.
According to GHMC, devotees, temple authorities, volunteers and residents contributed sacred items for responsible recycling. The collection included 310 photo frames, 156 idols, and 100 sacred photographs and calendars.
GHMC teams carefully dismantled all collected materials before handing recyclable components to the recycling team for scientific processing. The initiative aimed to promote environmentally responsible disposal while respecting religious traditions.
Project Udvasana 3.0 promoted sustainable recycling
GHMC said the collection drive reflected growing public participation in sustainable waste management. The civic body thanked citizens for supporting the initiative and said the programme encourages responsible recycling of sacred materials while protecting the environment.
Officials added that Project Udvasana showcases Hyderabad’s efforts to combine environmental sustainability with cultural and religious practices through organised collection and scientific recycling.
