Golconda Bonalu 2026 gets drone traffic management

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police introduced drone-based traffic management for Golconda Bonalu 2026 and implemented extensive traffic diversions to ensure smooth vehicle movement and public safety during the annual festival at Golconda Fort.

The Bonalu celebrations of Sri Jagadambika Ammavari began on July 16 and will continue until August 13. Acting on the directions of Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, the Hyderabad Traffic Police made elaborate traffic arrangements to handle the expected surge in devotees.

The traffic management plan is being supervised by Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis, IPS. DCP (Traffic) Kajal, IPS, and ACP (Traffic, Golconda Zone) D. Dhanalakshmi are conducting regular reviews to monitor the implementation of the arrangements.

Golconda Bonalu 2026 traffic monitored through drones

For the first time, Hyderabad Traffic Police have deployed drones to monitor traffic conditions around Golconda Fort in real time. The aerial surveillance system is being used to observe major traffic diversion points, assess congestion and help officers respond quickly to traffic bottlenecks.

The drones are also monitoring designated parking areas to prevent unauthorised parking and guide devotees to available parking spaces. In addition, officials are using the technology to identify crowd build-up on approach roads, internal routes and other busy locations so that field personnel can take immediate corrective measures.

According to the police, drone surveillance is providing a comprehensive view of traffic conditions on the ground and helping ensure safer and smoother travel for devotees and the general public throughout the Bonalu festival.
