Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Former MP B. Vinod Kumar made the demand while raising allegations against the Election Commission of India.
Vinod Kumar spoke to reporters at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday. BRS general secretary Soma Bharat Kumar and Legal Cell member Lalitha Reddy accompanied him.
BRS demands CEC resignation, questions selection process
Vinod Kumar alleged that the Election Commission had systematically deleted names from voter lists. He further claimed that such deletions had influenced election results in West Bengal and Bihar.
The BRS leader also questioned changes to the mechanism for selecting Election Commissioners under Article 324. He argued that replacing the Chief Justice of India with a Cabinet Minister had compromised the commission’s neutrality.
As a result, BRS demands CEC resignation and sought intervention over the issue. Vinod Kumar urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene. Alternatively, he called on the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the matter. He also sought submission of the court’s findings directly to the President of India.
