Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka called for a Telangana tourism digital push using Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies. He said the initiative could help promote the State’s destinations internationally.
Bhatti was speaking at the World Tourism Day-2026 celebrations at Shilparamam on Saturday. He said Telangana had strong tourism potential due to its natural, historical, spiritual and cultural heritage. He also stressed the need for effective international marketing of tourism destinations across the State.
Telangana tourism digital push focuses on AI
Referring to this year’s theme, “Digital Agenda – Reimagining Tourism with Artificial Intelligence,” Bhatti called for wider use of technology. He said emerging technologies should modernise tourism services and improve the visitor experience.
The Deputy Chief Minister also unveiled the redesigned Telangana Tourism website. In addition, he released a coffee-table book featuring major tourism destinations in the State.
Bhatti said Telangana offered significant potential for wellness, temple, rural and nature tourism. Work on wellness centres in Vikarabad had already begun. He also cited tiger reserves, forests, waterfalls, ancient temples and historic monuments as major tourism assets.
Bhatti called for international-standard hotels and tourism infrastructure through the Public-Private Partnership model. He said the government had given greater priority to tourism in the State budget. The focus included visitor safety and quality infrastructure.
Tourism, Culture and Archaeology Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said the government aimed to place Telangana among India’s leading tourism destinations.
Under the Telangana Tourism Policy 2025-30, the State had initially targeted ₹15,000 crore in investments. However, the government later raised the target to ₹50,000 crore following the Chief Minister’s direction.
Jupally said the government also aimed to create five lakh employment opportunities in the sector. The Minister said the policy had received investment proposals worth ₹22,174 crore in its first year. The government was working to convert those proposals into projects.
Meanwhile, Jupally said PPP projects and private-sector participation would be expanded further. The Telangana tourism digital push would form part of the broader effort to develop and promote the sector.
