New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has assured industrialists that he will personally protect every investment made in the state. He spoke at a preparatory meeting for the Global Summit at Taj Palace in Delhi. The summit is scheduled for December 7, 8 and 9 at Future City in Hyderabad. Reddy invited everyone to attend and described the city’s historic glory and its future plans.
He urged industrialists to double the investment amount they have in mind. The government will fully provide the policies and support they need, he said. Under the Telangana Rising 2047 plan, the state aims to reach a 1 trillion dollar economy by 2034 and a 3 trillion dollar economy by 2047.
Reddy said people from across political divides have backed Hyderabad’s investment journey. He said Hyderabad shone as a world-class city nearly four centuries ago. Foreign traders came to the Charminar area to buy pearls, silver artefacts and spices.
The Nizam rulers laid strong foundations for the city, the Chief Minister said. They built a museum, a mint, an airport, railways and leading educational institutions. He praised Hyderabad Public School alumni Satya Nadella, Ajay Banga and Shantanu Narayen, who now hold top positions worldwide.
Reddy also remembered the former prime ministers who laid the foundations for India to become the world’s third-largest economy. He said Rajiv Gandhi became prime minister at a very young age and brought revolutionary changes to the telecom and computer sectors. The state named Shamshabad Airport after him in his memory. Reddy also praised P.V. Narasimha Rao, who steered the country out of the 1991 economic crisis through the liberalisation reforms known as LPG.
Centre allots three high-speed rail corridors to Hyderabad
Reddy said Hyderabad is also receiving full cooperation from the Central Government. The Centre has allotted three of the seven high-speed rail corridors planned in the country to the city. They are Hyderabad-Chennai, Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Pune.
The Centre is also backing airports in Warangal and Adilabad, Metro expansion and the Regional Ring Road, he said. Reddy said Hyderabad competes with international cities such as London, New York, Tokyo and Dubai, not with other Indian cities. He called on investors to join the city in this journey of growth.
