Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Additional Managing Director B. Ajith Reddy directed officials to implement passenger facility upgrades after inspecting Metro stations and surrounding areas. He reviewed passenger amenities, parking, cleanliness, security and commercial spaces during the visit.
Ajith Reddy travelled by Metro from Begumpet to Raidurg and inspected platforms and concourses at Begumpet, Ameerpet and Raidurg stations. Meanwhile, he interacted with HMRL engineers and Keolis officials to review the services provided to commuters.
He instructed officials to utilise street-level parking spaces more efficiently. In addition, he reviewed sanitation and cleanliness around the stations and suggested improvements wherever necessary.
The Additional Managing Director also inspected the central median beneath the Metro viaduct. However, he expressed dissatisfaction with its maintenance and directed the agencies concerned to improve their performance. He said officials should not compromise on cleanliness or the quality of work.
Passenger facility upgrades to begin at 10 Metro stations
At Raidurg Metro Station, Ajith Reddy inspected the skywalk, pedestrian connections to IT companies and commuter movement near the Mindspace junction. Thereafter, he instructed officials to improve crowd management during peak hours. He also reviewed commercial spaces beneath the Metro stations.
The Additional Managing Director directed officials to prepare station-specific plans to improve commuter facilities. Accordingly, HMRL will take up passenger facility upgrades at 10 Metro stations as a pilot project.
He said inspections of other Metro stations would continue in phases to monitor passenger amenities. During the visit, he also reviewed parking arrangements, sanitation standards and security measures.
HMRL Chief Engineer Y. Sayapa Reddy, Executive Engineer K. Shyam Mohan, General Manager (Security) Srinath Reddy, DSPs Jagannath Reddy and Siva Rami Reddy, along with other officials, accompanied him during the inspection.
