Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha greets doctors on National Doctors’ Day

Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha extended greetings to doctors on National Doctors’ Day. He praised their contribution to protecting public health. He said doctors save thousands of lives every day through their expertise and dedicated service.

The Minister said government doctors play a vital role in strengthening the public healthcare system. He added that the State government is providing better infrastructure, modern medical facilities and adequate manpower to improve healthcare services.

The government filled 440 Civil Assistant Surgeon posts, 1,616 Specialist Doctor posts and around 800 Assistant Professor posts during the last two and a half years, the Minister said. He added that the Health Department had recruited nearly 15,000 personnel across various categories.

National Doctors’ Day highlights healthcare reforms

Damodar Raja Narasimha said the government also filled 48 Dental Surgeon posts. He said the recruitment fulfilled a long-pending demand of dentists. He added that the government had promoted around 1,300 doctors during the last two and a half years.

The Minister said the government had started constructing the new Osmania Hospital. He added that new hostels at Gandhi Medical College and Osmania Medical College were nearing completion. He also said the government had set up the Directorate of Secondary Health Care.

Further, the Minister said the government had increased junior doctors’ stipends and senior residents’ honorariums by 15 percent. It is also developing modern buildings for medical colleges and hospitals that currently operate from rented or old premises.

Damodar Raja Narasimha said the government would continue supporting doctors’ welfare and professional growth. He urged doctors to continue providing quality healthcare services to the people. He once again extended his National Doctors’ Day greetings.
