Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy congratulated the doctors and staff of Osmania General Hospital for successfully performing a rare five-organ transplant after a continuous 36-hour surgery. He said the medical team had set a national benchmark by carrying out the complex procedure.
Doctors simultaneously transplanted the stomach, duodenum, pancreas, small bowel and right colon into a 30-year-old engineer from Sircilla. The Chief Minister described the achievement as one of the rarest transplant procedures performed in the country.
Five-organ transplant earns praise from State leaders
Revanth Reddy said the achievement on National Doctors’ Day had brought further recognition to the medical profession. He commended the entire team for its dedication and expertise in completing the highly complex surgery.
Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha also congratulated the doctors, anaesthesia team, nursing staff, critical care specialists and other personnel involved in the procedure. He said the successful surgery had enhanced the reputation of Telangana’s public healthcare system.
The Minister said the achievement demonstrated that government hospitals in Telangana are capable of delivering advanced, world-class medical care. He added that the State government would continue strengthening public healthcare infrastructure to provide high-quality treatment to people.
