Hyderabad: An unidentified pedestrian died after a speeding car struck him near the Rajendranagar DCP office on Sunday night. Police detained the 22-year-old driver following the Rajendranagar road accident and registered a case. According to the available information, a red Skoda Rapid hit the man while he crossed the road. The vehicle bore registration number TS 09 FB 4554.
The impact killed the pedestrian at the scene. However, officials had not established his identity when the initial details emerged. The driver allegedly continued without stopping after the collision. Local residents then intercepted the vehicle and caught Sai Nithin, a resident of Manasa Hills.
Rajendranagar road accident leads to driver’s detention
Local accounts alleged that Sai Nithin had consumed alcohol and could not stand steadily. They also claimed that he initially struggled to provide his name. A drunk-driving test recorded a blood alcohol concentration reading of 180 points, according to the source information. Police subsequently took him into custody.
A young woman was also travelling in the car during the incident. However, she reportedly declined to provide details about the accident. Rajendranagar Police reached the scene after receiving information. Officers secured the area and began examining the sequence of events.
Police shifted the unidentified man’s body to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, they opened an investigation into the Rajendranagar road accident.
