Hyderabad: The daughter’s murder case in Hanamkonda took a major turn after police said her father had ordered her boyfriend to kill her. Police said the father allegedly wanted her killed because he believed her conduct was damaging the family’s honour.
A woman’s body was found inside a car parked along a roadside at Elkathurthi in Hanamkonda on August 21. Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the death.
During the investigation, police identified the deceased as Manasa, a resident of Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district. Investigators subsequently arrested her boyfriend, Vinod Kumar, and questioned him about her death.
According to police, Vinod Kumar disclosed during questioning that he had killed Manasa on the instructions of her father, Rajesham.
Daughter’s murder case linked to relationship
Manasa had married twice earlier, but both marriages had ended in divorce. She had therefore been staying at her parental home. Meanwhile, she became acquainted with Vinod Kumar. Their acquaintance developed into a romantic relationship within a few days.
Last week, Manasa told her family that she was travelling to Arunachalam. However, she instead went to Vinod Kumar’s room, according to the details disclosed in the investigation. Manasa then pressured Vinod Kumar to marry her. Following this, Vinod called her father, Rajesham, and informed him about the situation.
Police said Rajesham told Vinod that Manasa had been moving around as she wished and was bringing dishonour to the family. He allegedly asked Vinod to kill her. Investigators said Vinod then strangled Manasa to death. After the killing, he allegedly placed her body in the boot of a car.
He later took the vehicle to Elkathurthi and abandoned it there with the body inside. The car was subsequently found parked along the roadside on August 21. The discovery initially prompted police to register a case and investigate the identity of the woman and the circumstances surrounding her death.
The daughter’s murder case subsequently led investigators to Vinod Kumar. His questioning, according to police, revealed the alleged role of Manasa’s father in ordering the killing. Kazipet Assistant Commissioner of Police Pingali Prashanth Reddy said police produced Vinod Kumar before a court. The court subsequently remanded him to judicial custody.
