Hyderabad: BRS MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao unveiled an Ambedkar statue in Siddipet district and criticised the Congress government over welfare measures.
He inaugurated the statue at Thadkapalli village in Siddipet Urban mandal. Addressing the gathering, he extended greetings on the 135th birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
Harish Rao said Ambedkar was a leader for all sections and not confined to any single community. Moreover, he noted that Ambedkar’s vision laid the foundation for India’s democratic system.

He said Ambedkar ensured voting rights for all citizens through the Constitution soon after Independence. In addition, he urged youth to follow Ambedkar’s path and prioritise education.
The former minister said Ambedkar chose to serve marginalised communities despite opportunities abroad. At the same time, he alleged that the present government failed to carry forward his ideals.
Harish Rao criticised the Congress government for not implementing promised financial assistance to students from SC, ST and other communities. He said delays in fee reimbursement have caused difficulties for students.
He also alleged that welfare benefits have not reached eligible sections over the past two years. Furthermore, he recalled that the previous BRS government supported students with overseas education schemes.
He said former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had taken steps to honour Ambedkar, including naming the Secretariat after him and installing a statue in Hyderabad.
Harish Rao demanded that the government implement Dalit Bandhu and fulfil its promises. He also advised youth to avoid addictions and focus on education and personal development.
