Hyderabad: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Sunday urged citizens to vote with integrity and awareness. He said responsible voting was essential to the strength of democracy. The Governor addressed the state-level National Voters’ Day celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi.
He said this year’s theme, “My India, My Vote,” reflected the citizen’s key role in democratic governance. He stressed that Article 324 of the Constitution gave the Election Commission of India (ECI) full authority to conduct free and fair elections. Quoting Dr B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, he added that social democracy and ethical participation must support political democracy.
The Governor appreciated Telangana’s inclusive election practices. These include home voting, upgraded polling stations, and the use of modern technology. He also praised the peaceful conduct of the Jubilee Hills bye-election. Authorities had used drone surveillance and police coordination to maintain law and order.

Telangana adds 3.93 lakh electors ahead of National Voters’ Day
