Hyderabad: Former Employees Unions JAC leader G. Devi Prasad on Saturday accused the Congress government of neglecting employees and pensioners, warning of “divine retribution” over unresolved issues.
He made the remarks at a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan, where he highlighted pending dues and raised concerns over employee welfare.
Employee issues government criticism over pending dues
Devi Prasad said five Dearness Allowance instalments remain pending and claimed the government has not cleared dues worth ₹14,000 crore. He pointed to distress among retirees and said 86 pensioners had died, calling it a reflection of government apathy.
Devi Prasad added that retirees have approached the High Court seeking relief. He demanded ₹1.2 crore compensation for the families of deceased pensioners and blamed the government for delays.
He also raised concerns about administrative issues and alleged dominance of officials from another state in departments. In addition, he referred to a suicide attempt by an excise employee as a sign of rising distress.
Employee issues government criticism extends to political allegations
Devi Prasad alleged a close political understanding between N. Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy. He also accused the BJP of linking the Women’s Reservation Bill to the delimitation process, which he said delayed its implementation.
Further, he alleged that both the Congress and the BJP have stalled the bill for political reasons.
Former teachers’ union leader Bhujanga Rao and others attended the press conference.
