Hyderabad: RTC strike called off after the Telangana government and employee unions reached an understanding following detailed discussions.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said RTC functions like a family and expressed grief over the loss of an employee. Meanwhile, he said the government examined workers’ issues and took positive decisions.
The government agreed to conduct RTC recognition elections. Accordingly, it directed RTC management to make necessary arrangements for the process.

Bhatti Vikramarka said the meeting discussed the long-pending RTC merger with the government. Further, he said an official committee with government and labour representatives will take the process forward.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said ministers, senior officials, and the RTC Joint Action Committee participated in the talks. In addition, he said officials held preliminary discussions before final deliberations.
He said the meeting reviewed various aspects related to government and RTC management decisions. Meanwhile, the government appreciated the employees for withdrawing the strike.
The Deputy Chief Minister said RTC should develop into a leading public transport institution in the country. Moreover, the government announced an 11% Pay Revision Commission after reviewing financial conditions.
Officials directed RTC management to coordinate with labour unions to resolve remaining issues.
