Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials conducted searches at properties linked to Bhujanga Rao, a suspended Additional Superintendent of Police and an accused in the phone tapping case.
The agency launched the operation as part of a disproportionate assets investigation. Officials suspect that Bhujanga Rao accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income.
ACB teams carried out simultaneous raids at multiple locations. Investigators also searched properties linked to his relatives, family members and close associates.
Bhujanga Rao under fresh ACB scrutiny
Officials intensified searches at around 15 locations across Telangana. The operation covered Hyderabad, Suryapet district and several other places.
ACB teams began the raids early in the morning. They continued inspections at various premises connected to the suspended officer throughout the day.
Bhujanga Rao already faces investigation in the high-profile phone tapping case. The latest action has added another layer to the scrutiny surrounding him.
Investigators are now examining his financial transactions and property holdings. They are also verifying allegations related to disproportionate assets.
Authorities have not yet disclosed details of any recoveries. Officials are expected to release further information after completing the searches.
