Hyderabad: Tribal Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said education investment is not an expenditure but the most valuable commitment to future generations and social progress.
Addressing the Academic Success Meet-2026 at Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan on Saturday, the minister said the Telangana government is giving top priority to the educational advancement of SC, ST, BC, Minority and other socially and economically disadvantaged communities.
The programme formed part of the nationwide celebrations of “Janjatiya Garima Utsav – Birsa Lives in New Bharat.”
Adluri Laxman Kumar said students studying in government educational institutions today would become key contributors to the nation’s economy, the state’s development and the financial progress of their families.
He said the celebrations marking the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda represented more than academic success. According to the minister, they honoured the confidence, perseverance and achievements of tribal students.
The minister said Birsa Munda’s ideals continue to inspire generations. He also recalled the contributions of tribal freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Ramji Gond.
Education investment central to social justice
Adluri Laxman Kumar said the government is pursuing social justice through educational empowerment. He added that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy believes education remains the most effective tool for eliminating poverty and ending inter-generational deprivation.
The minister said the government views education investment as a long-term strategy for building a skilled, productive and self-reliant society.
Highlighting the performance of Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions, he said the Gurukul system has emerged as a national model of educational excellence.
According to the minister, more than 82,000 students currently receive free residential education through these institutions.
He said the institutions recorded strong academic results this year. The SSC pass percentage reached 98.86 per cent, while 56 institutions achieved a 100 per cent pass rate. He added that Intermediate students recorded a pass percentage of 86.53 per cent.
Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Panchayat Raj and Women & Child Welfare Minister Seethakka, MLC Addanki Dayakar, MLAs Naveen Yadav and Vedma Bojju, and several senior officials attended the programme.
