Dasoju Sravan alleges government taking over Eidgah land in Khairatabad

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar alleged that the Telangana government is taking over Eidgah land in Khairatabad and disregarding assurances given to the local Muslim community.

In a post on X, Sravan claimed that the government had started constructing a government building on land in Banjara Hills that local Muslims have traditionally used for Eid prayers. He alleged that successive governments had allowed the community to use the site and had assured residents that it would remain available as an Eidgah.

Sravan said the land is located in Survey No. 10 of Banjara Hills within the Khairatabad Assembly constituency. He claimed the government had left the site vacant for years under a mutually accepted understanding with the local community.

Eidgah land issue triggers political criticism

The BRS leader described the move as undemocratic and accused the government of ignoring commitments made to the Muslim community. He alleged that authorities were proceeding with the project despite concerns raised by local residents.

Sravan also recalled that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had launched the Eid Thofa programme from the same ground during the previous BRS government. According to him, the site has long served as a venue for Eid prayers and community gatherings.

Furthermore, he alleged that converting the land for government use reflected arrogance and undermined community aspirations. He urged the government to protect the Eidgah land and honour earlier assurances.

The Telangana government has not officially responded to the allegations made by the BRS leader.
