Cyberabad Police mark International Yoga Day with wellness message

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh, IPS, urged police officers to make yoga a part of their daily routine while addressing the 12th International Yoga Day celebrations held at the Cyberabad Commissionerate Parade Ground on Saturday. The event was organised under the theme “Yoga for Wellness, Readiness & Resilience”.

Around 250 police officers and personnel participated in the programme along with Kukatpally DCP Rithiraj and Headquarters DCP Sanjeev. The participants performed yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation exercises as part of the observance.

Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner described yoga as a valuable heritage gifted by Indian civilisation to the world. He said regular practice improves both physical and mental health while helping the body’s organs function effectively.

Dr. Ramesh stressed that policing requires not only physical fitness but also mental calmness. Referring to the message, “A Calm Mind, A Strong Body, A Safer Society,” he encouraged officers to develop a healthy body and a focused mind through regular yoga practice.

The Commissioner said yoga strengthens mental resilience and improves the ability to make clear decisions under pressure. He added that focusing on breathing helps calm the mind and equips individuals to manage stress more effectively.

He advised police personnel to dedicate time every day for yoga, pranayama and meditation. In addition, he noted that police duties often involve high levels of stress, making wellness practices essential for maintaining professional efficiency.

Emphasising the goal of “Fearless Service – Fit Force, Focused Mind,” Dr. Ramesh called on officers to enhance their physical fitness, emotional balance and professional competence. He said effective policing depends on a healthy police force and reiterated the message of “Better Health – Better Policing.”
