Hyderabad: CPI leader Narayana accused the Central government of imposing severe restrictions across Delhi and disrupting normal public life. In a video posted on social media, he questioned the deployment of a large security force and criticised the authorities’ handling of peaceful protests.
According to Narayana, authorities had deployed between 50,000 and 75,000 police personnel and other security forces across the national capital. He argued that the scale of the deployment raised doubts about whether Delhi had effectively been handed over to Pakistan. He also described the restrictions as unjustified, saying they targeted people who had arrived to stage peaceful protests.
Furthermore, Narayana said the Centre had placed itself in a difficult position through its actions. He warned that attempts to cover up mistakes could lead to serious consequences. He also referred to responses from legal experts and the Supreme Court, urging the government to reconsider its approach.
CPI leader Narayana criticises media and welcomes RTC union victory
Separately, Narayana accused some media organisations of spreading claims at their own discretion. He dismissed the coverage as a product of BJP-backed media narratives. He maintained that restrictions and repressive measures could not permanently stop public movements. Therefore, he demanded that the Centre correct its course.
Meanwhile, Narayana welcomed the victory of the AITUC-affiliated Employees Union in the Telangana RTC workers’ union recognition elections. He congratulated the workers who helped secure the result. He also praised the other unions that joined forces with the Employees Union.
However, Narayana criticised the Congress for turning a workers’ union election into a political contest. He alleged that the party had called for the defeat of communists out of arrogance. According to him, the Congress had transformed the election into a political battle between Congress and communist organisations. He held the Congress responsible for introducing that political dimension.
Finally, Narayana congratulated the allied unions that supported the Employees Union’s victory. He expressed hope that the unions would maintain their unity and strengthen future campaigns to protect workers’ rights.
