Hyderabad: BRS MLAs suspended for the remainder of the Telangana Assembly session on Wednesday after they disrupted proceedings on the third day of the monsoon session.
The BRS members entered the Well soon after the House began. They raised “We want justice” slogans and continued their protest.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad repeatedly asked them to return to their seats. However, the legislators refused to end their protest and disrupted the proceedings.
Legislative Affairs Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu moved a proposal against the protesting members. Following the proposal, the Speaker announced their suspension for the rest of the session.
The suspended legislators included K.T. Rama Rao, T. Harish Rao, Jagadish Reddy, Padi Kaushik Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Anil Jadhav and Madhavaram Krishna Rao.
Kova Lakshmi, Konikanti Manik Rao, Chinta Prabhakar, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy and Marri Rajasekhar Reddy also faced suspension.
Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Sabita Indra Reddy, Sanjay, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Devireddy Sudheer Reddy were among the other suspended members.
Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, Kaleru Venkatesh, Vijayudu and K.P. Vivekanand also figured in the suspension list.
BRS MLAs suspended after protest in House
The Assembly later adjourned for the tea break. After the suspension, some BRS legislators went to meet the Speaker.
Marshals placed barricades and stopped the legislators from reaching Gaddam Prasad. The move led to further commotion on the Assembly premises.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka also attacked the BRS over its conduct during the suspension motion.
He condemned alleged objectionable remarks by BRS leaders against the Speaker and his mother. Bhatti also questioned the treatment of Congress Dalit public representatives after their road protest.
He asked whether protesters should face humiliation through the alleged use of cow dung and turmeric water to cleanse the area after their demonstration.
Bhatti said Telangana had a democratic government. He warned that the State would not tolerate what he called feudal behaviour by BRS leaders.
He also criticised alleged caste discrimination against weaker sections. The Deputy Chief Minister said the government would act against conduct that undermined the Speaker’s dignity.
Bhatti further warned that the government would not tolerate attempts to belittle constitutional institutions.
