Hyderabad: Former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav accused the Congress government of suspending BRS MLAs to avoid discussion on public issues in the Telangana Assembly.
Speaking to the media during a chit-chat on Wednesday, Talasani said the government had forcibly removed the BRS members because it feared them. He also questioned the manner in which the Speaker announced the suspensions.
According to Talasani, the Speaker read names that differed from those mentioned by Legislative Affairs Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu. He said the Assembly had also suspended some members who were not present in the House.
The former minister specifically referred to Padma Rao, Malla Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar and Gudem Mahipal Reddy. Their suspension was ridiculous, he said, because they were absent from the Assembly.

BRS members respected Speaker Gaddam Prasad and held him in high regard, Talasani said. However, he alleged that the Congress had damaged the Speaker’s image by repeatedly projecting him as a Dalit Speaker.
The BRS leader also said the party would have welcomed Bhatti Vikramarka becoming Chief Minister. He demanded that Bhatti explain what had happened to the SC, ST and Sub-Plan issues.
Talasani further criticised the government over the presence of an MLA whom he accused of wishing for BRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s death. He questioned why such an MLA remained in the House while BRS legislators faced removal.
Finally, the former minister rejected doubts about the BRS commitment to Dalit issues. He said there was no need to question the party’s sincerity towards Dalits.
