Hyderabad: Former minister and senior BRS MLA Harish Rao condemned the suspension of BRS MLAs from the Telangana Assembly. He accused the Congress government of suppressing public issues.
Reacting to the Assembly developments on X, the BRS leader criticised the Congress government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He said the action affected public issues raised in the House.
“It is not merely a suspension of the BRS party. It is a suspension imposed by the Congress government on public issues,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BRS leader alleged that people wanted their concerns raised in the Assembly. However, he claimed the Chief Minister had instead focused on removing BRS members who represented those voices.
Harish Rao attacks Congress over Assembly action
The former minister accused the Congress government of undermining democratic values in its administration. Furthermore, he alleged that the government was adopting an authoritarian approach.
He also warned Revanth Reddy against ignoring what he described as a historical lesson. According to the BRS leader, stronger authoritarian tendencies among rulers could trigger stronger public resistance.
At the same time, he said attempts to silence opposition voices through suspensions were unwise. He maintained that the opposition was questioning the government on behalf of the people.
Therefore, the former minister warned that people would respond to the Congress government through democratic means. He said the public would teach the government an appropriate lesson.
