CMC flags food safety violations at Brown Bear Bakery in Kukatpally

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Food Safety teams identified multiple food safety and hygiene violations at Brown Bear Bakery, operated by Bake Max Foods in Kukatpally, during an inspection conducted on June 18 and initiated regulatory action against the establishment.

The inspection was part of CMC’s ongoing food safety monitoring drive across Cyberabad. Officials assessed hygiene standards, food handling practices and compliance with food safety regulations.

Inspectors noted that food handlers were wearing aprons and hairnets. They also observed that workers were following basic personal hygiene practices.

Meanwhile, officials found that eggs used for baking were stored without proper cleaning, creating a potential contamination risk. The inspection team also detected cockroach infestation inside the premises.

Further, inspectors observed uneven and slippery flooring in the manufacturing unit. They also found workers using rusted baking trays during food preparation.

Officials reported the presence of pigeons in the raw material storage area. They noted that such conditions could adversely affect food hygiene and storage standards.

In addition, finished products did not carry manufacturing dates or expiry details. Inspectors found that the products displayed only batch numbers, falling short of prescribed labelling requirements.

Following the inspection, CMC collected food samples for laboratory analysis. The corporation also initiated the process to issue a show cause notice to the establishment.

Officials directed the management to strengthen hygiene measures, improve storage practices and ensure proper labelling of products. The unit secured 71 marks out of 92 in the hygiene assessment, translating to 78 per cent.

CMC said it will continue conducting regular inspections across Cyberabad to strengthen food safety standards and safeguard public health.
