Bhatti urges film industry to support anti-drug campaign

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday appealed to the Telugu film industry to support the Anti-drug campaign by recording video messages promoting the “Say No to Drugs” initiative. He said film personalities could play a significant role in creating awareness among young people.

Speaking at a programme held at Shilpakala Vedika to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and the Day Against Human Trafficking, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government would facilitate the recording of awareness messages through the Information and Cinematography departments if required.

He said short video messages from actors, actresses, directors and other film personalities could positively influence thousands of young people across the state.

Anti-drug campaign targets youth awareness

The Deputy Chief Minister said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the State Cabinet were committed to ensuring that no one in Telangana fell victim to drug addiction. He added that the government would not allow the sale or supply of narcotics anywhere in the state.

Furthermore, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government had established the EAGLE Force to combat drug trafficking. He added that the force had received financial resources, vehicles and special incentives for police personnel engaged in anti-drug operations.

Anti-drug campaign calls for social participation

Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was conducting awareness programmes in government and private schools and colleges. He warned that authorities would take strict action against anyone found endangering the future of children through drug-related activities.

He also said legal measures alone could not eliminate the problem. Therefore, he urged public representatives, celebrities and other influential personalities to use videos and social media to strengthen awareness against drug abuse.
