Hyderabad: Actor and Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI) chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna announced that the Basavatarakam Silver Jubilee celebrations would conclude with a grand ceremony on June 22 at a hotel in Hitech City.
The event will bring together Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Several Union and State ministers are also expected to attend.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Balakrishna said the institution had completed 25 years of service since its establishment in 2000. He added that the hospital continued to operate on a non-profit basis.
Basavatarakam Silver Jubilee to highlight expansion plans
Balakrishna said the celebrations would also showcase plans for a new North Block in Hyderabad.
In addition, the institution would present details of the upcoming cancer hospital at Thullur near Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh.
He said the hospital would honour everyone who had contributed to its construction and operations over the past 25 years.
According to Balakrishna, the institution would continue its journey by drawing inspiration from the efforts of its supporters, donors and medical professionals.
Basavatarakam Silver Jubilee coincides with birthday celebrations
Earlier in the day, Balakrishna celebrated his birthday with children receiving treatment at the cancer hospital.
He cut a cake with the children and distributed toys and gifts. He also thanked donors who contributed towards cancer care initiatives and the hospital’s expansion plans.
Among the contributions, Seetharama Raju donated ₹1 lakh. Students of Triveni and Krishnaveni Schools contributed ₹1.01 lakh.
Meanwhile, Kakarla Raghavendra Rao donated ₹10 lakh towards the construction of the new cancer hospital at Thullur near Amaravati.
Balakrishna expressed gratitude for the birthday wishes he received from supporters and well-wishers. Furthermore, he pledged to continue serving society with greater dedication in the coming years.
The programme was attended by Medical Director Dr. T. Subrahmanyeswara Rao, Medical Superintendent Dr. Phani Koteswara Rao and Associate Director (Academics) Dr. Kalpana Raghunadh.
Several department heads, doctors, nursing staff, paramedical personnel and hospital employees also attended the event.
