Hyderabad: Police have launched a search operation after a cash vehicle driver allegedly escaped with Rs 17 lakh that was being transported for deposit into an SBI ATM in the IS Sadan police station limits.
According to Detective Inspector Sai Prakash Goud, Srinivas, a native of Jagityal district who had joined Team POS, an agency responsible for replenishing SBI ATMs, as a driver four months ago, allegedly carried out the theft on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Srinivas was assigned to transport cash for ATM loading and reached the Santoshnagar–Rain Bazaar main road area at around 12.30 pm. While proceeding to deposit the money into an SBI ATM, he allegedly executed a pre-planned scheme.
