The incident, therefore, became a talking point across Korutla town in Jagtial district. The aspirant had been seeking a ticket to contest from the 8th ward.

Initially, Thota Gangadhar planned to contest the municipal election from Ward No. 8. However, after failing to receive a clear response from the Congress, he explored other options.

Consequently, on Thursday morning, he joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. At the same time, BRS MLA Kalvakuntla Sanjay personally visited Gangadhar’s residence and welcomed him into the party.

Following the development, party circles expected Gangadhar to contest the Korutla municipal polls as a BRS candidate.

Korutla municipal polls trigger late-night political talks

Soon after the news of his defection spread, Congress leaders acted swiftly. As a result, they moved to prevent the loss of a strong ward contender.

Accordingly, the Congress constituency in-charge Juvvadi Narsinga Rao, held discussions with Gangadhar late on Thursday night. During the talks, the party assured him of the 8th ward ticket.
