Hyderabad: Telangana Police have urged motorists to avoid phone use while driving, warning that answering calls, watching reels or creating videos on the road can lead to serious accidents.
In a road safety message shared on social media, the police advised drivers to stop their vehicles at a safe location before attending phone calls, regardless of how urgent they may seem. Officials stressed that a brief delay is far safer than risking lives on the road.
The department reminded motorists that their families depend on them and expect them to return home safely. The message highlighted the dangers posed by distracted driving and called on road users to exercise greater responsibility.
Police noted that using mobile phones while operating vehicles significantly reduces attention and reaction time, increasing the likelihood of crashes and injuries.

The advisory specifically warned against watching reels, browsing social media or recording videos while driving. Officials said such behaviour places not only the driver at risk but also passengers, pedestrians and other road users.
The awareness message forms part of the department’s ongoing road safety campaign aimed at reducing accidents caused by negligence and distraction. Telangana Police urged citizens to follow traffic rules and prioritise safety over convenience.
The department reiterated that drivers should pull over safely before making or receiving calls and avoid any activity that diverts attention from the road.
