Adilabad police bust fake document racket, arrest five

Hyderabad: Police busted a fake document racket in Adilabad town that allegedly involved forged birth certificates, voter cards and Aadhaar card modifications, officials said on Thursday.

Mavala police arrested five accused in connection with the fake document racket, while another suspect remained absconding.

Police seized more than 280 digital documents, mobile phones and forged certificates from the accused during the operation.

Fake document racket exposed after complaint

District SP Akhil Mahajan disclosed details of the case during a media conference at Mavala Police Station.

According to police, officials began the investigation after receiving information about fake birth certificates being issued near Union Bank on Dasnapur Road in Adilabad town.

The inquiry started after Municipal Commissioner A. Jagadeeshwar Goud filed a complaint regarding suspicious certificates.

Police found that the submitted documents did not match official records. Therefore, investigators confirmed large-scale forgery and cheating activities.

Following instructions from the SP, a special team led by Mavala Inspector K. Swami conducted the investigation and arrested Osa Ravikumar, Shaik Ameer, Abdul Mujahid, Abdul Tanveer and Adapa Santosh.

Police said another accused, Junaid, was absconding.

Fake document racket used editing applications

Investigators found that the accused used mobile phones and PDF editing applications to prepare forged government documents.

According to police, the accused collected between Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,000 for each fake document.

SP Akhil Mahajan advised people to obtain government certificates only through official departments and Mee Seva centres.

DSP Jeevan Reddy, SHO Rahul Kanth and CI Swami also attended the media conference.
