Young India Sports Summit highlights sports university vision

Hyderabad: The Young India Sports Summit was held on Thursday at Gachibowli Stadium, focusing on strengthening the sports ecosystem through policy, education, and innovation.

The summit was organised under the Young India Physical Education and Sports University. It brought together experts, policymakers, and professionals from across the sports sector.

Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan inaugurated the event. He said the Young India Sports Summit marked the university’s first flagship initiative. He added that Telangana has strong potential for sports development.

The summit covered key themes such as national sports policies, education, research, and employment opportunities. It also addressed technology and innovation in sports.

State Sports Advisor A.P. Jitender Reddy expressed confidence in the university’s future. He said it could gain national and global recognition. He also called for more such initiatives.

Sports Authority Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy said the university aligns with the vision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He added that it will help shape the future of young athletes.

Young India Sports Summit highlights ecosystem growth

Vice Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Soni Baladevi said the Sports Department has strengthened the sector in recent years. It established institutions, expanded academies, and promoted grassroots competitions.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Kishore Gopinathan said the university will adopt global best practices. He added that it aims to integrate education, research, and technology.

The summit featured discussions on Telangana sports policy, Olympic vision, sports education, and careers. It also covered sports science, leagues, e-sports, and para sports.

Experts from the Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust and Adapted Sports India Foundation participated. Notable attendees included Pullela Gopichand, Dronacharya awardees Ismail Baig and Nagapuri Ramesh, Arjuna awardee J. J. Shobha, and Olympian Neha Aggarwal.
