Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday directed officials to implement a centralized procurement system to ensure timely supply of essential materials to students.
He reviewed procurement of supplies for institutions under the Education, BC, Minority, Tribal Welfare, and SC Development departments. He said timely delivery of uniforms, notebooks, and other items allows students to focus on studies.
The Chief Minister said the centralized procurement system will eliminate irregularities seen earlier. Previously, departments handled procurement separately, which caused inconsistency and delays.
Centralized procurement system to ensure quality and accountability
Revanth Reddy said the centralized procurement system will improve accountability. He warned that authorities will not tolerate irregularities in supply of uniforms, notebooks, trunk boxes, and other materials.
He directed officials to maintain high quality standards in all supplies. These include notebooks, school bags, bedsheets, plates, glasses, ID cards, and tracksuits.
He also instructed departments to complete distribution by June 15. Moreover, the government will clear payments immediately after delivery.
Centralized procurement system to track delivery
The Chief Minister ordered appointment of nodal officers at the mandal level. These officers will oversee distribution to schools and hostels in villages.
He asked officials to document the process through photos and videos. In addition, they must verify that each student receives all required items.
Revanth Reddy directed officials to collect feedback from every student on quality and usability. Therefore, departments must monitor satisfaction levels closely.
He also ordered formation of a coordination committee among Education and welfare departments. This step will ensure smooth implementation of the centralized procurement system.
Senior officials, including Government Advisor P. Sudarshan Reddy, MP Vem Narender Reddy, and senior secretaries, attended the review meeting.
