World Aquaculture India 2025 conference opens in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The World Aquaculture India 2025 (WAI 2025) international conference began on Monday at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Novotel. Organised by the World Aquaculture Society (WAS), the four-day event will run from November 10 to 13. It brings together experts, researchers, business leaders, and aquaculture stakeholders from across the world.

Focus on sustainability and global aquaculture solutions

The conference features technical sessions and workshops on key issues in aquaculture. Topics include global challenges, sustainable farming methods, and new technologies. The goal is to find practical solutions that can help the industry grow responsibly.

The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), which operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is hosting a special set of sessions from November 11 to 13. These sessions are titled “Harnessing India’s blue revolution for export growth in aquaculture.” The focus is on boosting exports while ensuring long-term sustainability.

MPEDA to showcase innovation and growth strategies

MPEDA’s programme includes nine key topics. These range from export-focused aquaculture and success stories in diversification to biosecurity, species development, and value-added seafood products. Officials will also highlight achievements of the RGCA–MPEDA projects.

Additionally, MPEDA has set up a stall to share its work and latest initiatives. Experts will present case studies and practical ideas to help Indian seafood businesses grow and compete globally.

Organisers believe that WAI 2025 will build stronger ties between Indian and international aquaculture sectors. It also aims to spark new trade opportunities, spread clean technologies, and solve pressing problems through open discussion.

MPEDA officials hope the sessions will produce useful policy advice and action plans. These outcomes are expected to guide India’s aquaculture sector towards responsible and steady growth.
