Hyderabad: Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkat Swamy proposed wider Telangana-Miyoshi cooperation in skills, education, technology, smart agriculture, youth exchange and international employment.
The Minister led a Telangana delegation that met Miyoshi Mayor Fukuoka Satoshi during his Japan visit. During the meeting, both sides discussed possible areas of future cooperation.
Vivek Venkat Swamy said Telangana was focusing on developing young people with global-standard skills. For this purpose, the State was using the Young India Skills University (YISU), Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), ITIs and other technical and vocational institutions.
He proposed connecting Miyoshi’s technical education institutions with YISU, ATCs and ITIs in Telangana. The proposal also covered student and trainer exchanges.
In addition, he suggested joint programmes on technology transfer, Japanese manufacturing practices, workplace standards and industry-based training. These initiatives could align training with international industry requirements.
The Minister said Telangana youth preparing for employment in Japan were receiving training beyond technical skills. They were also learning Japanese, workplace discipline, social values and cultural practices.
Meanwhile, he said TOMCOM was helping develop transparent and structured employment pathways for trained Telangana youth. Vivek Venkat Swamy proposed a long-term partnership to connect skilled Telangana youth with the human resource needs of Japanese industries.
Telangana-Miyoshi cooperation to expand into smart agriculture
The Minister also proposed greater cooperation in smart agriculture. He explained Telangana’s agricultural capabilities and said the State ranked first in India in rice production.
He suggested exchanging knowledge on Japanese agricultural practices and increasing technical cooperation. The proposed areas included farm mechanisation, technology-based cultivation, higher productivity and sustainable agriculture.
Furthermore, Vivek Venkat Swamy sought to strengthen the two-decade friendship between Hyderabad and Miyoshi. He invited Mayor Fukuoka Satoshi and a Miyoshi delegation to the Telangana Rising Global Summit-2026 in Hyderabad in December.
The Minister said the visit could help establish specific partnerships among educational institutions, industries and government organisations. He added that the summit could provide an opportunity to take these proposals forward.
Vivek Venkat Swamy said Telangana wanted to build partnerships with clear outcomes from the existing Hyderabad-Miyoshi friendship. The proposed cooperation would cover skills, technology, agriculture, education, student exchanges and international employment.
He said the initiative could also create a new model for India-Japan relations at the city and State levels.
Miyoshi Mayor Fukuoka Satoshi attended the meeting along with Deputy Mayors Saimi Takeshi and Yamazaki Teru. Industrial Promotion Department Director Kodama Takashi, Regional Cooperation Department Director Nontani Takumi and Commerce, Industry and Tourism Department Director Fujikawa Ayumi also participated.
Takayama Hiroka and other officials were present at the meeting.
