Hyderabad: An Attapur phone snatching ended in the killing of a Nepal native after two assailants attacked him and took his mobile phone, police said. Rajendranagar police and the Shamshabad Task Force investigated the case and arrested two accused.
Police identified one accused as Mohammed Sufiyan, while the other was a minor. The victim, Nagendra Majhi, was a native of Nepal. He lived with his wife, Chandra, in Attapur under the Rajendranagar police station limits.
On August 24, Nagendra told his wife that he was stepping out to smoke a cigarette. He left the house around 11 pm but did not return. After waiting for him, Chandra went out searching at around 1 am. She found Nagendra lying dead near Pranava Villas in Attapur and alerted the police.
Attapur phone snatching emerges as motive
Initially, the circumstances surrounding Nagendra’s death remained unclear. Rajendranagar police subsequently joined the Shamshabad Task Force to investigate the case. Investigators examined CCTV footage and used technological evidence to establish the sequence of events.
Police eventually identified Attapur phone snatching as the motive behind the attack on Nagendra. According to investigators, Sufiyan and the minor attacked Nagendra and took away his mobile phone.
Police traced the two accused during the investigation and took them into custody. Officials arrested both accused in connection with Nagendra’s killing and later sent them to judicial remand. The investigation linked the fatal attack to the theft of the victim’s cellphone, police said.
