Uber Bike driver arrested in ₹10 lakh Masab Tank house theft case

Hyderabad: Mehdipatnam Police arrested an Uber Bike driver in the Masab Tank house theft case and recovered gold jewellery, a scooter and cash worth around ₹10 lakh.

Police identified the accused as Biyya Shashidhar, 28, a resident of New Bowenpally. Officers seized 157.8 grams of gold ornaments, a Honda Activa scooter and ₹12,000 in cash during the operation.

Rajitha Srinivas Godari lodged a complaint on June 30 after she discovered that gold ornaments were missing from her residence at Siri Priya Residency in Masab Tank. Investigators found that the accused knew the family through the complainant’s niece and had visited the house several times.

According to police, Shashidhar later visited the residence on the pretext of helping the family sell their car. He allegedly used keys kept inside the house, opened the almirah and stole the ornaments.

Police said the accused sold the stolen jewellery in the Secunderabad Gold Market. He then travelled to Goa and spent part of the money before returning to Hyderabad.

Masab Tank house theft investigation leads to recovery

Acting on credible information, the Mehdipatnam Police tracked down and arrested the accused after his return. Officers recovered the stolen property during the investigation.

Detective Inspector N. Rambabu and SHO S. Mallesh led the operation with the Crime Team of Mehdipatnam Police Station. ACP K. Srinivas supervised the investigation under the guidance of DCP J. Raghavender Reddy and Additional DCP B. Srikrishna Goud.

Police said they would suitably reward the investigation team for successfully solving the Masab Tank house theft case.
