Thummala directs seed firms to ensure supply for Kharif season

Hyderabad: Kharif season preparations came under review as Agriculture, Marketing and Cooperation Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao held a meeting with seed companies, fertilizer dealers, agriculture officials, scientists and technology partners.

The Minister reviewed arrangements related to seed supply, fertilizer distribution and the use of technology in agriculture. He also directed seed companies to ensure adequate availability of the seven paddy varieties recommended by the Telangana Government.

According to officials, the selected paddy varieties offer strong market demand and export opportunities. Therefore, Thummala instructed companies to maintain sufficient stocks and ensure timely supply to farmers across the state.

Kharif season plans include technology-driven crop monitoring

Meanwhile, the Minister sought feedback from fertilizer dealers on the implementation of the Urea App. The platform aims to ensure transparent and need-based distribution of fertilizers by linking supply to land records and cultivation requirements.

In addition, dealers shared their experiences regarding the system and highlighted operational aspects related to fertilizer distribution. Officials, meanwhile, reviewed the feedback as part of efforts to improve service delivery to farmers.

Further, Thummala discussed the use of satellite-based technology for monitoring crops. He said the government is exploring systems capable of identifying pest attacks and disease outbreaks in real time.

Consequently, authorities would be able to issue timely advisories to farmers and support preventive action in affected areas. Officials also expect such interventions to help safeguard crop yields and reduce losses.

Additionally, the Minister said the government aims to integrate efficient input delivery, market-oriented crop planning and advanced technology. Through this approach, the government seeks to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve outcomes for Telangana farmers.
