Telangana land re-survey to begin in three phases: Ponguleti

Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directed officials to launch the Telangana land re-survey on a priority basis across the State to ensure effective implementation of the Bhu Bharati Act and provide complete security for farmers’ land holdings.

Reviewing the Revenue, Housing and other departments through a video conference with district collectors from the Khammam District Collectorate on Saturday, the Minister said the survey would be conducted in three phases. In the first phase, 70 villages in each district will be covered, while monthly review meetings will monitor the progress.

Ponguleti said a pilot survey conducted in five villages had resolved 95 per cent of land disputes, encouraging the government to expand the exercise across Telangana. He said licensed surveyors would receive Rs. 60 per acre, and those who failed to report for duty within the stipulated time would face cancellation of their licences.

Telangana land re-survey to address revenue disputes

The Minister ordered an inquiry into the rejection of Sadabainama applications and directed officials to identify the reasons, issue notices wherever necessary and ensure their speedy disposal. He said the Telangana land re-survey could permanently resolve nearly 98 per cent of revenue grievances raised during Praja Darbars.

He also instructed officials to immediately correct cases where entire land parcels were placed under the prohibited 22A list despite only a portion of the land being acquired for government purposes.

Apart from revenue matters, Ponguleti directed officials to accelerate the construction of Indiramma houses, hand over pending two-bedroom houses to beneficiaries, prioritise hut-dwelling families in the second phase of housing and ensure uninterrupted supply of construction materials.

The Minister also instructed the Education Department to distribute at least one pair of school uniforms to every government school student before August 15. Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) D.S. Lokesh Kumar participated in the review from Hyderabad, while Khammam District Collector Diwakar T.S. joined from Khammam.
