Hyderabad: Telangana will host the International Kite Festival at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad from January 13 to 15, 2026, the Department of Tourism announced.
In addition, the department planned a Hot Air Balloon Festival from January 16 to 18, 2026. It also scheduled a Drone Festival on January 13 and 14, 2026, to coincide with Drone Day celebrations.
Officials said the events aimed to promote tourist destinations across the state. Therefore, the department expected increased footfall from domestic and international tourists.
The Tourism Department stated that these festivals formed part of a broader campaign to strengthen Telangana’s tourism profile. Moreover, officials said the events would showcase innovation and culture together.
International Kite Festival arrangements reviewed by officials
Earlier, an interdepartmental coordination meeting was held on December 18, 2025, to ensure the smooth conduct of the festivals. Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department, chaired the meeting.
Valluru Kranthi, IAS, Managing Director of TGTDC and Director of Tourism, attended the meeting. Soni Bala, IFS, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of SATG, also participated.
Priyanka, IAS, Special Commissioner of the Information and Public Relations Department, joined the discussions. In addition, S Rashmi Perumal, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, and officials from various departments attended.
Officials discussed logistics, security, and coordination measures. As a result, departments agreed to work together for the successful conduct of the festivals.
