Telangana sports academy admissions open with selection trials from July 20

Hyderabad: The Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) announced the schedule for Telangana sports academy admissions for the 2026–27 academic year. It will conduct selection trials across the state from July 20 to July 28.

SATG will conduct the trials for admission to the Regional Sports Hostel in Hanumakonda and Sports Academies at Gachibowli, L.B. Stadium, the Cycling Velodrome at Osmania University, Saroornagar, Siddipet, Rajanna Sircilla, Khammam, Mahabubnagar and Wanaparthy.

Candidates will compete in Athletics, Volleyball, Hockey, Football, Handball, Wrestling, Cycling, Kabaddi, Gymnastics and Swimming. Moreover, SATG will select candidates based on their performance in the trials. Age categories range from Under-10 to Under-18, depending on each discipline.

The selection trials will begin on July 20 at the Cycling Velodrome, Gachibowli Sports Complex, L.B. Stadium and the Saroornagar Volleyball Academy. Meanwhile, SATG will continue the trials at Khammam, Siddipet, Mahabubnagar and Hanumakonda until July 28.

SATG constituted discipline-wise selection committees to ensure a transparent and merit-based admission process. In addition, the committees include senior SATG officials, district sports officers, experienced coaches, representatives of recognised sports associations and international players.

The Sports Authority instructed all conveners to submit the lists of selected and standby players immediately after completing the trials.

Finally, SATG encouraged young sportspersons to participate in the selection process. It urged aspiring athletes to apply according to the notified schedule and eligibility criteria for admission to Telangana’s premier sports academies and the Regional Sports Hostel.
