Telangana expands Germany university partnerships for higher education

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Higher Education Department has strengthened Germany university partnerships through a high-level academic visit aimed at expanding international collaboration in teaching, research and student mobility.

A delegation led by Higher Education Secretary Dr. Yogita Rana visited three leading German universities from June 29 to July 1. The delegation included Vice-Chancellors of Osmania University, Kakatiya University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Palamuru University and Satavahana University. Senior Higher Education officials, faculty members, representatives of government degree and polytechnic colleges, and RUSA Project Officer Dr. Soundarya Joseph also participated.

Germany university partnerships focus on research

The delegation visited RWTH Aachen University, Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences and the University of Göttingen. During the visit, members toured advanced laboratories and centres of excellence. They also reviewed research facilities, academic programmes, teaching methods and institutional collaboration models.

Officials discussed dual-degree programmes, student and faculty exchange initiatives and specialised short-term courses. In addition, participating universities exchanged Letters of Intent to strengthen future cooperation.

RWTH Aachen University also expressed its intention to sign a formal Memorandum of Understanding with Osmania University. The proposed agreement is expected to become a flagship academic partnership between the two institutions.

Germany university partnerships support global exposure

The Higher Education Department said the Telangana government remained committed to expanding international academic cooperation. It also said the proposed collaborations would create long-term opportunities for students, researchers and faculty members.

Dr. Yogita Rana said the visit would help provide Telangana students with greater access to global learning and research opportunities. Furthermore, she expressed confidence that the partnerships would strengthen the state’s efforts to emerge as a leading higher education hub.

Officials said the visit marked an important step towards expanding Indo-German academic cooperation and improving the quality of higher education in Telangana.
