Harish Rao accuses Congress of failing farmers in Telangana

Hyderabad: BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress government of misleading people in Telangana with unfulfilled promises. He alleged that the government had failed to deliver assurances made to farmers and other sections of society.

Harish Rao addressed a BRS workers’ convention in Karimnagar. Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar, former minister Koppula Eshwar, former MLAs Rasamayi Balakishan and Sunke Ravishankar, former Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma, senior party leaders and workers attended the meeting.

Harish Rao targets farm policies

Harish Rao alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s statement that “power is not permanent” reflected concern over declining public support for the Congress government.

He questioned why farmers should support a government that, according to him, had failed to fulfil its promises. He alleged that the government had withheld nearly ₹30,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, denied the crop bonus and imposed power cuts.

Further, Harish Rao claimed the government had not released insurance benefits under the Rythu Bima scheme to the families of nearly 7,600 deceased farmers.

Harish Rao criticises fertiliser distribution

The BRS leader also criticised the government’s handling of fertiliser distribution. He alleged that farmers who earlier received fertilisers without difficulty were now waiting in long queues for urea.

Moreover, Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government had failed to implement its promise of a farm loan waiver despite the Chief Minister’s public commitment.
