Telangana launches AI readiness programme for minority students

Hyderabad: The Telangana government launched an AI readiness programme for nearly 80,000 minority students studying in 205 institutions under the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS). The initiative aims to prepare students for the digital economy through artificial intelligence and digital safety training.

TMREIS will implement the programme with MASK NextGen and Doxa Consulting Private Limited (DCPL). Meanwhile, the government selected DCPL as the global implementation and strategic partner. The programme will begin on August 15, 2026.

The government will offer the initiative free of cost through a social responsibility partnership. It said the programme would not place any financial burden on students or the state.

Minorities Welfare and Government Enterprises Minister Mohammed Azharuddin said the government remained committed to equipping minority students with skills required in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Azharuddin said artificial intelligence had become a permanent reality. He added that students should prepare to become future leaders in the field. He also said the government was giving special priority to women’s empowerment and equal opportunities for girls.

According to the minister, the initiative will help female students build confidence in technology and strengthen their career prospects. Additionally, the curriculum will use a gamified self-learning digital platform. It will feature interactive modules on artificial intelligence, digital safety, English communication, leadership, critical thinking and innovation.

The minister appreciated MASK NextGen founder and CEO Avni Trivedi, DCPL representative Joseph Christopher, TMREIS Secretary B. Shafiullah and TMREIS Chairman Faheem Qureshi for supporting the initiative. Finally, he said the government would extend full support to ensure the successful implementation of the AI readiness programme.
