Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand said the Telangana government will establish anti-drug committees in all educational institutions. The initiative aims to keep campuses drug-free and ensure the safety of students.
The DGP made the announcement during a high-level review meeting with Eagle Force officials on Wednesday. He directed officers to strengthen action against drug abuse. He also stressed that educational institutions should remain free from drugs, as they are centres of discipline and learning.
He said the government was taking key steps to create a safer environment for students across the state. Furthermore, he instructed Eagle Force officials to implement anti-drug initiatives effectively. They will coordinate with educational institutions to achieve this goal.
DGP reviews anti-drug committees and road safety plans
During the meeting, CV Anand also reviewed preparations for forming the new committees. According to the DGP, the initiative will improve coordination between police and educational institutions. As a result, authorities expect stronger efforts to prevent drug-related offences.
Meanwhile, the DGP also reviewed measures to improve road safety across Telangana. He said the Telangana Police had begun steps to establish a dedicated Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau. The proposed bureau will improve traffic management and help reduce road accidents.
Additionally, the bureau will focus on coordinated road safety measures and accident prevention. It forms part of the police department’s broader public safety strategy.
