Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy directed officials to organise the 85th Indian Road Congress on a grand scale in Hyderabad. He called for arrangements comparable to those planned for the upcoming Global Summit. The four-day national conference will take place at HITEX from November 19 to 22.
At a review meeting held at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat on Friday, the Minister stressed the need for close coordination among departments. Accordingly, he asked officials to plan accommodation, transport, food and hospitality for delegates arriving from across the country. He also directed them to arrange visits to tourist destinations to make delegates’ stays more convenient.
Indian Road Congress to host 3,000 delegates at HITEX
Komatireddy said around 3,000 delegates were expected to attend the conference. These participants would include Ministers, secretaries, IAS and IPS officers, engineers, national and international road experts, academicians and technical specialists from various States.
In addition, organisers will set up around 400 exhibition stalls at HITEX. These stalls will showcase developments and innovations in roads and infrastructure. Meanwhile, conference sessions will cover road construction, modern technologies, road safety and infrastructure development across the country.
The Minister also called for extensive publicity through print, electronic, digital and social media. Furthermore, he urged departments to coordinate their efforts to use the conference as an opportunity to attract investment ahead of the Invest Telangana Global Summit in December. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will lead the summit.
Komatireddy expressed confidence that bringing representatives and experts from different States together would raise Telangana’s national profile. He also said the event could create fresh investment opportunities for the State.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will attend the conference as chief guests. In addition, Telangana Ministers, Ministers from other States, representatives from various States and other dignitaries are expected to participate.
