Telangana Minister assures help to Ukraine war victim’s family

Hyderabad: Welfare Minister Adluri Lakshman Kumar assured a Jagtial family of government assistance to bring home the mortal remains of Ukraine war victim Vavilala Sudarshan, who reportedly died in the war on September 1. He gave the assurance on Friday while reviewing the Chief Minister’s Prajavani grievance redressal programme at Pravasi Prajavani.

During the visit, Choppadandi MLA Kavvampalli Satyanarayana joined the Minister in interacting with officials and petitioners. Together, they reviewed complaints from citizens, including requests for assistance involving Indians stranded or affected abroad. They also discussed the implementation of the grievance redressal programme.

Ukraine war victim’s family seeks help with repatriation

A family from Hasnabad village in Jagtial Urban mandal approached Pravasi Prajavani to seek help in bringing Sudarshan’s mortal remains to India. According to the family, the Ukrainian Embassy had asked them to pay ₹6 lakh for transportation. Therefore, they requested government intervention to meet the cost of returning the Ukraine war victim’s remains.

Sudarshan’s wife, Bhargavi, his mother, Gangu, and village sarpanch Bathula Gangadhar submitted the petition. In response, Lakshman Kumar said he would raise the matter with officials in the Chief Minister’s Office. He also promised to initiate the necessary steps to assist the family.

Meanwhile, State Nodal Officer for the Chief Minister’s Prajavani K. Vidyasagar attended the programme. Manda Bheem Reddy, vice-chairman of the Telangana Government NRI Advisory Committee, also participated. Committee members Chennamaneni Srinivasa Rao and Swadesh Parikipandla were present, along with others.

Separately, the 260th edition of the Chief Minister’s Prajavani received 127 petitions on Friday. The session took place at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad, where citizens submitted grievances to the State government.
