Sumathi assumes charge as Malkajgiri Police Commissioner

Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumathi assumed charge as the new head of the commissionerate on Friday, outlining a focus on law and order, cybercrime control and technology-driven policing.

Senior IPS officer B. Sumathi took charge amid a formal welcome by senior police officials and staff. Subsequently, she addressed the media and outlined her priorities for the Malkajgiri Police Commissioner role.

Calling her appointment significant, she said becoming the first woman Malkajgiri Police Commissioner was both an honour and a responsibility. She added that delivering transparent and efficient policing services would remain her primary duty.

Sumathi noted that the commissionerate enjoyed a reputation as a peaceful region. Therefore, she assured that police would maintain law and order without compromise.

Malkajgiri Police Commissioner focuses on technology policing

The Malkajgiri Police Commissioner said modern technology would play a key role in crime control. In particular, she highlighted the use of AI-based tools such as TG QUEST.

According to her, cybercrime cases were rising with changing times. Therefore, police would adopt a process-oriented and result-oriented approach to handle such offences.

Authorities will ensure quick and informed justice for victims. Meanwhile, teams will conduct awareness programmes to educate the public about cyber threats.

Malkajgiri Police Commissioner targets drugs and traffic issues

Sumathi said police would take strict action against drug trafficking and consumption. She described narcotics as a serious social challenge requiring prevention, detection and effective investigation.

Additionally, AI-based surveillance will help prevent youth from falling into addiction. This step will strengthen enforcement against drug-related crimes.

The Malkajgiri Police Commissioner also highlighted traffic management as a priority. With vehicle congestion increasing, she stressed the need for focused regulation.

Police will introduce measures to streamline traffic and improve commuter convenience. As a result, travel safety across the commissionerate will improve.

Expressing gratitude, Sumathi thanked the government and the Director General of Police for her appointment. She said her team would work transparently and follow government guidelines in all operations.
